Think! Design was commissioned to create the name and brand image for this new company. The requirement was for a name/logo which suggested heritage but would also allow the brand to sit comfortably in a contemporary retail environment. The OH initials from Original Ham are used as the brand mark, and give the brand a strong visual identity. It also allows the company to branch out from pure ham to other pork-based products in the future.
The brand image uses a black/white/grey/silver colour palette and the logo takes on more striking colours when used on retail packaging. The premium range of special flavours, which have won Taste of the West awards for quality, are displayed in simple clear trays with strong labelling that reinforces the new brand.
The ongoing brand development extended to the wholesale supply chain with vacuum packed versions. Part of the consideration of these designs was to keep costs down without losing the quality image. Striking 2-colour labels on silver foil packs gives them an understated quality.
